Since the 18th century, Guangzhou, as a coastal city, has become a center of Sino-foreign trade by virtue of its geographical advantages. The unique style of the city has emerged under the mixture of Chinese and foreigners. This exhibition mainly displays various commodities that were targeted at foreigners at that time, including porcelain, hanging paintings, decorative boxes, paper fans and bed sheets.
I also appreciate the modern elements that have been incorporated into the exhibition. For example, there is an image of Guangzhou Avenue, which puts the audience in it from a clever angle, and local animators are invited to recreate the people and events of the trade back then, giving a full sense of presence.
