After work one day, I wanted to relax and have a meal with friends. My friend suggested going for skewers. She had been here before and found it lively with a great atmosphere, so she brought me along. She was right; even though it was a Monday, the restaurant was nearly 90% full! The menu had two pages filled with various skewers, including Hong Kong style, Sichuan style, Japanese style, grains, vegetables, fish, desserts, and more. There’s something for everyone. We ordered about 15 types of skewers, grilled rice balls🍙, grilled chicken wings, eel fried rice, foie gras toast🍞, and two drinks.
Among the skewers, I particularly liked the salt-grilled kale🥬. It was simply seasoned but very refreshing. The grilled yam with mentaiko was tender and sticky, with a spicy mentaiko flavor. The minced chicken cartilage skewer was mixed with tender minced chicken and crunchy cartilage, offering a rich texture. The accompanying sauce was sweet and fragrant.
The mentaiko grilled rice ball🍙 had a crispy outer layer and was warm to the touch. It had plenty of mentaiko sauce, so every bite was flavorful.
The eel fried rice was generous in portion, costing $58 per plate, enough for about four small bowls. Great value! Besides eel, the fried rice also included shiitake mushrooms and eggplant🍆, making it very hearty. The rice was well-fried, with each grain distinct and chewy.
The grilled chicken wings had a sufficient honey flavor, were large, and not overly dry, remaining juicy.
The foie gras toast was about half the size of a palm, with a slice of green apple🍏, making the foie gras less greasy.
One of the drinks was a mix of yellow peel and lime with 7-Up. It was my first time trying a drink with yellow peel; it was sweet and sour, very unique and refreshing.
