This time I went to Mala Cafe in Sham Shui Po. The restaurant's decor really made me feel like I was in Malay. 🇲🇾 There are so many Malay dishes, it's overwhelming. 😳

🍴Restaurant Review
A great place to check in, with many unique murals. 🎨The staff are polite, and the owner seems to be Malay. 😏There's a wide selection of food, including a variety of noodle and rice combinations. 😝

🍚Is it spicy enough to kill you? Pandan coconut rice with fried chicken thigh $98
I always order it. It's a great place to go because it's packed with ingredients. Besides the rice, there are also a lot of special toppings like cucumber and peanuts. 🥜 The rice also has a unique green color that's quite interesting. 🌱

The chicken thigh is worth trying. Don't be fooled by its charred appearance; it's marinated in Malay's signature dark soy sauce. The skin is incredibly crispy, the meat retains its juices, and it's still piping hot when you slice it. 💦

🍜Curry Laksa $88
It's packed with ingredients, including the usual shrimp and fish fillets. The tofu skin soaks up the broth. 😋 The broth is thicker because it uses a lot of coconut milk. 😙 Besides the aroma of curry, there's also the flavor of the shrimp, which is deep-fried and very crispy. 🦐

🥣Bak Kut Teh (Pork Belly Pork) $68
Highly recommended! Order the Bak Kut Teh and you can drink as much as you want. 😉 The Bak Kut Teh has a strong herbal flavor, but it's not bitter and warms the stomach. 🥰 The pork belly is delicious, especially with some fat. 😋

🥬 Glass Squid with Water Spinach $68
Don't be fooled by the fact that it's just boiled vegetables. The XO sauce underneath is fragrant and spicy. 🥵 I just want more and more. It pairs really well with the squid. 🦑

🍞 Butter Kaya Toast $32
So thoughtful! The bread is pre-cut and toasted to a crisp, almost biscuit-like texture. 😬 The kaya isn't overly sweet; it's actually homemade. 🤭

☕️ Malaysian Teh Pulled $24
After eating toast, I wanted some teh tarik. I feel like Mala Laksa has a stronger milky flavor than Hong Kong-style milk tea, and it's very smooth 🍼
