Located at the southern end of South Horizons, Mount Johnston and Ap Lei Pai are very famous in the hiking circle. Although the journey is not long, from Lei Tung Station on the South Island Line, climb Mount Johnston, go to the Ap Lei Pai Lighthouse, and return to the South Horizons Station via the Mount Johnston Kwan Bian, the whole journey is only 5.3 km; the climb is not much, the height of Mount Johnston is only 196 meters, and the total climb is 570 meters, but the road is not easy to walk, basically gravel roads and dirt roads (Figure 17), if you walk Kwan Bian, it is along the cliff edge of the reef (Figure 18-20), although the dangerous road section has ropes, it is a great challenge to the coordination and flexibility of the body. Overall, the difficulty is medium to high, the scenery is excellent, the fun is very high, very exciting, not suitable for beginners, old donkeys are very worth a trip.
The top of Mount Johnston can overlook the panoramic view of Lamma Island to the west (Figure 6), overlook Aberdeen to the east (Figure 7), and face Ocean Park across the sea (Figure 8, 9).
Mount Johnston and Ap Lei Pai are connected by a narrow beach (Figure 3-5), which is normally passable, but may be submerged at high tide.
The end of Ap Lei Pai is a cliff reef, with a white lighthouse and a small pier, which can be reached by boat, and the waves beat the reef to stir up a thousand layers of snow, and the scenery is very spectacular (Figure 11-13).
There are two roads on the way back (Figure 14), the right is the gravel road that came, and the left along the coast is Kwan Bian.
Walking Kwan Bian, you can see the "female ghost hand rock" (Figure 15), which makes people can't help but marvel at the magic of nature.
