"Kowloon Walled City Light and Shadow Journey" Movie Scene Exhibition｜Recreating the Legend of Hong Kong Cinema

The Hong Kong Tourism Board, together with the Cultural and Sports Tourism Bureau's Cultural and Creative Industry Development Office, has launched the "Kowloon Walled City Light and Shadow Journey" movie scene exhibition at Kowloon Walled City Park. It takes visitors through time to relive the classic scenes of the Hong Kong Film Awards Best Film, "The Siege of Kowloon Walled City." The exhibition opens from May 24, 2025, at the park's original yamen site, with free admission. It runs until September 2025, open daily from 9 AM to between 6 and 7 PM.

This exhibition is meticulously crafted by a professional film art team, with each movie scene restored at a 1:1 scale, recreating the Kowloon Walled City that was demolished in the early 1990s. Visitors can immerse themselves in the realistic alleys of the Walled City, experiencing the daily life of its former residents. For the first time, large-scale projection technology is combined to simulate the thrilling sound and visuals of planes flying over the city, delivering an immersive sensory experience. The exhibition incorporates local traditional craft elements, delicately presenting the unique architectural style of the Walled City, showcasing the outstanding creativity and set design craftsmanship of Hong Kong filmmakers.

Beyond recreating movie scenes, the exhibition also tells the glorious story of Hong Kong cinema, outlining the unique charm of the Walled City as a cultural symbol of Hong Kong. Stroll through the light and shadow, and feel the intertwined allure of Hong Kong films and the history of the Walled City!
