While everyone gathers in the bustling city, I enjoyed a 360-degree panoramic view at the Ngong Ping Grassland on Section 4 of the MacLehose Trail! This place, often referred to as the 'Hong Kong Alps,' is a stunning highland meadow close to the city, like a 'sky garden.'
🚶♂️ Recommended Hiking Route
· Start: Shui Long Wo (M069) → Ma On Shan Country Trail → Pyramid Hill → Golden Clock Peak → Ngong Ping Campsite (M083) → Tsz Wan Shan
· Distance: Approximately 12.5km | Duration: 5-6 hours
📸 Highlights
· Ma On Shan Ascent: The climb is challenging, but the breathtaking view of the Sai Kung Strait awaits you!
· Golden Clock Peak: At 536m, this is the best viewpoint to overlook Sai Kung and Tsing Kwan O 🏞️
· Ngong Ping Grassland: A vast meadow with grazing cattle and picturesque scenery blending with the clouds.
· Heart-shaped Lawn: A hidden photo spot deep in the grassland, perfect for drone shots 💚
🚌 Transportation Guide
1. Getting there: MTR Sha Tin Station → Take Minibus 1A (to Sai Kung) → Transfer to Village Bus NR29 → Alight at Shui Long Wo
2. Returning: Walk downhill from Ngong Ping to Tsz Wan Shan (1-hour walk) → Take a bus back to the city
💡 Preparation Tips
· Best time to visit: October-December (Golden Reed Season) 🌾 or April-May (Green Spring)
· Bring at least 2L of water, a hat, and sunscreen
· The grassland area is windy, so it's advisable to bring windproof clothing
If you're looking to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and immerse yourself in serene nature, Ngong Ping Grassland will captivate your heart!
