📍 A Time Travel in an Instant! Must-Visit Photo Spots with a Cinematic Vibe
• 🎬 Monster Building (Hai Shan Building): What's it like to live in a Hong Kong movie? This "Monster Building" near Tai Koo Station is absolutely visually stunning! The densely packed, honeycomb-like buildings, looking up from the atrium, create a sense of oppressive confinement, as if you're in a scene from *Transformers*. (A gentle reminder: Please keep quiet and don't disturb the residents!)
• 🪜 Tai Kwun, Central: Formerly a complex of a police station and prison, this historical site has been transformed into an arts and culture hub! Red brick walls, an old prison, and modern galleries—the contrast between old and new creates stunning photos at every turn, perfect for artsy types and those who love history.
• 🖼️ Graham Street Mural: Despite the crowds, this classic colorful house mural is not to be missed! After taking photos, we strolled up the Mid-Levels Escalator in Central to experience the hustle and bustle of daily life in Central.
☕️ Even if it means working yourself to the bone, the queues are worth it! Classic Hong Kong flavors you'll regret missing!
This time, we reserved our stomachs for the most authentic "cha chaan teng" (Hong Kong-style cafes) culture and "Michelin-starred cuisine"!
• 🔥 Kau Kee Beef Brisket: Coming to Hong Kong without eating beef brisket is like not having come at all! The broth is incredibly rich, the beef brisket in the clear broth is tender and flavorful, and even the radish is stewed to a super sweet perfection! Although the queues are hellish, it's absolutely worth it.
• 🍞 Kam Wah Cafe/Australia Dairy Company (Australia Beef): A battle between creamy pig buns and their signature scrambled eggs! Kam Wah's pineapple bun pastry is thick and sweet, while Australia Beef's scrambled eggs are as smooth as clouds. Paired with the Hong Kong-style humor of "Handsome, please pay the bill," this is the true taste of Hong Kong!
• 🍜 Street Food: Curry fish balls and egg waffles from Temple Street are also must-haves for afternoon tea! The rich aroma of curry and the crispy-on-the-outside, soft-on-the-inside egg waffles provided a much-needed boost of energy for my whirlwind hike.
💡 Useful Tips (Make your trip smoother!)
1. Transportation Card: I recommend buying an Octopus card. It's accepted on the MTR, buses, trams, and at convenience stores—very convenient.
2. Peak Tram: Want to see the million-dollar night view? Be sure to buy a package ticket online in advance (round trip + Peak Tower). The wait time on-site can exceed two hours!
3. Choose the Right Time to Eat: Hong Kong-style cafes are extremely crowded during peak hours. To avoid the crowds, I suggest going between 2-4 pm.
The charm of Hong Kong lies in the contrast between old and new! Next time I come, I want to visit the Big Buddha on Lantau Island or spend a whole day relaxing in the West Kowloon Cultural District!
