Hue is my favorite city in Vietnam besides Hoi An. This city is worth staying for two to three days. Of course, if time is limited, how to spend a day to have a preliminary exploration of Hue?
You can get a rough idea by following this route.
📍An Dinh Palace
An Dinh Palace is an artistic building of the Nguyen Dynasty. It perfectly blends the Asian and European styles and is very unique. It is completely different from the hundreds of ruins in the existing Hue Ancient Capital Relics Group. It is a representative of the ancient and modern architectural style of Vietnam in the early 20th century.
From Anding Palace, you can walk or take a taxi to 📍Guoxue Senior High School
The most worth seeing here are the teaching buildings with red exterior walls, where traces of history can be seen everywhere. Although we are not allowed to enter the school, the exterior is very beautiful.
The 📍National Studies Monument opposite the main entrance of the school is very photogenic. Walking northeast along the Perfume River, there are beautiful scenery and buildings along the way. On the other side is the Hue Imperial City. Cross the Perfume River from the Cầu Phú Xuân Bridge to the other side, enter the 📍Hue Imperial City from the Meridian Gate, and visit the palaces you want to visit according to your own time.
After visiting the Imperial City, there is a very good beef noodle restaurant 📍Bún bò O Chi in the northeast. If you think it is too far, you can also go to 📍Đề-Pô Cafe 📍 and then return to the Perfume River from 📍Trường Tiền Bridge.
There is the 📍Hue Night Market Pedestrian Street under the bridge. Although it is called a night market, there are not many vendors, but it is very nice to watch the sunset here. There are vendors selling desserts, which you can try, but the taste is so-so.
Walking northwest along the pedestrian street, you can go to 📍tan.cafe for a drink. There is also a crab roe soup 📍Bánh Canh Cua Hương nearby that is worth a try and is very unique. If you don’t understand the menu, you can point to other people’s bowls and order, or order the 50k one, which has a little bit of everything.
How can you not eat beef noodle when you come to Hue? There is a very popular 📍BÚN BÒ HUẾ BÀ GÁI nearby. After eating the noodle, you can go to 📍Chè Hẻm to drink local sweet soup. The clerk speaks English and you can ask her for recommendations.
After this tour,
you can basically see the general situation of Hue.
You can make extra time to visit other places you want to visit.
