The Nguyen Dynasty ruled Vietnam from 1802 to 1945, significantly expanding Vietnam's borders to include present-day southern Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos. At its peak, it was one of the most powerful nations in Southeast Asia. Hue served as the capital of the dynasty and is home to various historical sites and cultural heritage.
1. Best travel time: March to April is considered ideal, but September is also a good option (occasional rain makes the weather cooler).
2. Travel: It takes about 3 hours and 30 minutes by tourist train from Da Nang.
3. Hue itinerary:
Day 1: Leisurely explore the Imperial City and take a walking tour around Hue City.
Day 2: Visit Khai Dinh Tomb, Tu Duc Tomb, and Thien Mu Pagoda.
You can have a quick meal near Tu Duc Tomb.
Combo tickets for the Imperial City and two tombs (choose any two) are available for 420,000 VND, which is cost-effective.
Day 3: Enjoy a boat cruise on the Perfume River and explore Vietnamese home-style cuisine.
* Transportation: Grab is available for getting around.
City to tombs: Walking is possible, but Grab is recommended (40,000 VND).
City to Khai Dinh Tomb: Grab costs 140,000 VND.
Khai Dinh Tomb to Tu Duc Tomb: Grab costs 100,000 VND.
Tu Duc Tomb to Thien Mu Pagoda: Grab costs 80,000 VND.
* Accommodation: Around 700,000 VND per night, including breakfast.
* Motorbike rental: Approximately 150,000 VND per day, but Grab is recommended for convenience.
