I made a special trip to Hanzhong just for Longtou Mountain!
It was totally worth it! The sea of clouds and the cliffside walkway at Longtou Mountain are absolutely breathtaking, especially that sleek, curved walkway—perfect for photos and worth every penny of the ticket price.
🌿Destination Guide:
Longtou Mountain is located in Nanzheng District, Hanzhong City, not too far from downtown. It’s all about that "fairyland vibe"—the mountaintop is often shrouded in clouds, and the creatively designed cloud ladder and walkway make you feel like you’re walking on air. Summer visits are especially pleasant, with temperatures around 20°C (68°F) at the summit, much cooler than the city—perfect for escaping the heat!
🧭Attraction Tips:
Must-visit spots are the Cloud Ladder and the Cliffside Walkway! The Cloud Ladder has three sections, and as you ascend, the mist swirls around you, making it feel like you’re climbing into the sky—the industrial design is next-level, showcasing China’s incredible landscaping skills! The walkway is sleek and curved, with an observation deck that feels like a theater box, offering sweeping views of the mountains and clouds. Along the way, you’ll spot two uniquely shaped rocks, "Dragon’s Tooth" and "Dragon’s Head Token," which look incredibly realistic—great photo ops if you find the right angle. The glass walkway isn’t too long, but with sheer cliffs beneath your feet, it’s quite thrilling—perfect for the brave-hearted.
🏨Hotel Tips:
Downtown, the Jinjiang Hotel is super convenient, just a 5-minute walk from the shuttle pickup point. Standard rooms go for around 200 yuan a night—clean and comfy, with breakfast featuring local specialties like hot rice noodles (try them!). For something closer to the mountain, there are farm stays like "Yunxi Homestay," where the owner serves fresh homegrown veggies, and you can stargaze at night. Rooms are basic but cozy, around 150 yuan a night—just call ahead to book.
👍Itinerary Tips:
Highly recommend taking the downtown shuttle! Buy a combo ticket (includes entrance, cable car, and shuttle fare) at Jinjiang Hotel by 8 AM to save 10 yuan. The shuttle departs at 9 AM and takes about an hour to reach the mountain. Ride the cable car up (expect a 30-minute wait—go early to avoid crowds), then take the Cloud Ladder to the walkway entrance. Hit the walkway first for photos while the morning light is ideal. After the glass walkway, leisurely head back—it’s about an hour to the rest area, no rush. Return by shuttle around 3 PM—timing’s perfect.
🍲Local Eats:
Snack stalls at the mountain serve tasty dishes like vegetable tofu with spicy sauce (5 yuan a bowl). Back in town, don’t miss "Old Street Hot Rice Noodles"—their chewy noodles paired with veggie tofu and walnut bread make a killer combo for 15 yuan. For a heartier meal, try "Baohe Fish Village," where fresh fish hotpot is the star (around 80 yuan per person).
✨Extra Tips:
Temps drop at the summit! Even in summer, pack a light jacket—I wore a T-shirt last time and got chilly in the 22°C (72°F) breeze. Wear comfy sneakers—the walkway’s easy, but you’ll clock steps. Charge your phone—the clouds and walkway are too photogenic to miss. Lockers at the cable car station (10 yuan) let you stash gear and explore light.
