Tyrol, a region covering parts of Austria and Italy, is a biodiversity hotspot for butterflies, with thousands of species found across its diverse landscapes. Habitats range from low-lying forests and meadows to high-altitude Alpine pastures. The following species are common throughout Tyrol and are often found in meadows, woodlands, and alpine pastures: small Tortoiseshell (Aglais urticae): A medium-sized butterfly found up to 3,000 meters in meadows and clearings.
Painted Lady (Vanessa cardui): Known for its migratory nature, this butterfly is a common sight in meadows.
