The Inuyama Festival, held every year on the first weekend of April in Inuyama City, Aichi Prefecture, is a historic spring festival that has been designated an Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property of Japan. A traditional event that has been held since the Edo period, the sight of 13 gorgeous floats parading through Inuyama Castle Town is truly breathtaking!
At night, the floats are lined up, lit with lanterns, creating a magical atmosphere. The night view of the Inuyama Castle tower and the lantern lights is truly a must-see.
During the day, the highlight is the mechanical puppet performances on the floats. The intricate mechanisms, operated by human power, give a glimpse of the craftsmanship of the past. Food stalls and street vendors line the streets, allowing you to fully enjoy spring in Inuyama while sampling local cuisine.
