The Basilica Cistern in Istanbul, Turkey

Located in Istanbul, the capital of Turkey, the Basilica Cistern was constructed during the reign between 527-565 AD. Despite its name, it is not actually a palace but an ancient water reservoir that once provided drinking water for the city's residents. After the introduction of tap water, it fell into obscurity and was later opened to tourists. Walkways have been built inside, allowing visitors to explore this mysterious and stunning underground structure. Enhanced by colorful lighting, the cistern offers a tranquil escape from the city's hustle and bustle, making it a must-visit attraction.
