Sinan’s First Masterpiece🕌

📍Şehzade Mosque in Istanbul

While everyone knows about the Blue Mosque or Süleymaniye, I found myself falling in love with a less touristy gem 🕌

Built in the 16th century by the great architect Mimar Sinan, it was actually his first major imperial project and the one he later called “the work of an apprentice”. For me, it felt more intimate, peaceful and authentic than some of the bigger mosques in Istanbul.

🌟 A few beautiful facts about Şehzade Mosque:
1️⃣ Commissioned by Suleiman the Magnificent in memory of his beloved son, Şehzade Mehmed, who died young.
2️⃣ Completed in 1548, it represents the early perfection of Ottoman classical architecture.
3️⃣ The mosque complex includes a lovely garden and courtyards, perfect for a quiet walk away from the city noise.
4️⃣ Inside, the mosque is decorated with stunning red and white Iznik tiles and intricate calligraphy.

For me, this mosque felt very emotional - a story of love, loss and legacy turned into architecture 💭

And the best part? It’s not crowded at all, so you can truly enjoy the calm and admire every detail.

💭 Have you ever discovered a place that wasn’t on the “main tourist list” but touched your heart even more than the famous ones? This mosque has definitely become such a place for me! 🤍
