📍Izmir Tarihi Asansör Binası
Turgut Reis, Şht. Nihatbey Cd. 76/A, 35000 Konak/İzmir, Türkiye
Izmir is Turkey's third largest city and the largest port city along the Aegean Sea.
It is also the gateway to the Ephesus ruins.
As a port city, it is also known as a gourmet city, mainly for seafood.
This spot in the Asansol area is where you can enjoy a panoramic view of the port city of Izmir.
You can go up to the view spot.
The elevator was built by Jews in 1907 and has a retro history.
It connects Mithat Pasha to Halilfat Pasha Street, and was built to efficiently move between the two districts, as it was previously impossible to go between the two districts without climbing a long staircase.
When you get off the elevator, there are stylish cafes with great views and small general stores here and there. The staircase art and murals are very modern. There were even cats hanging out at the general stores 🐈⬛
By the way, the elevator is free, and there is no admission fee for the observation deck, which is nice ☺️
🚶It's about a 10-minute walk from Uçyol Station. You can also walk from the clock tower, which is the center of the old town, but it took about 30 minutes.
