History & Legend
Yongduam Rock was formed over 2 million years ago by volcanic lava that cooled and solidified into its current dragon-like shape. According to local legend, a dragon tried to steal sacred jade from Hallasan Mountain and was struck down by the mountain deity. The dragon fell into the sea, and its head turned to stone—forever watching the waves.

The rock stands about 10 meters high and 30 meters long, and depending on the angle and tide, it truly resembles a dragon’s head emerging from the ocean.
