✓ Seijunkaku
A magnificent villa next to Kenrokuen Garden, a luxurious large-scale academy building that combines traditional and Western styles, was built by the 13th lord of Kaga Domain as a residence for his mother after retirement.
The architectural style combines traditional Western and Japanese elements. The colorful hollow carvings, screen paintings, American crystal lamps and Dutch stained glass all show the craftsmanship of the time. There are also several traditional paper-pasted sliding doors with glass windows embedded, allowing residents to enjoy the snowy scenery of the garden without letting the biting cold wind blow into the house.
There are two small gardens next to Seijunkaku, so that the gurgling water can be heard in the bedroom, so that the residents can get a soothing effect when falling asleep. Some rooms are named after painted animal themes, such as Turtle Room and Butterfly Room.
