Kaohsiung Wude Hall - Gushan District, Kaohsiung

Kaohsiung Wude Hall is located in Gushan District, Kaohsiung, and was completed in 1924. Originally, Wude Hall was a dojo for the Kaohsiung Prefecture Police Department during the Japanese colonial period, and it is a traditional Japanese-style brick building. The entrance features Romanesque columns with arrow and target-shaped reliefs, symbolizing Japanese martial arts. The east side of Wude Hall is designated for kendo, while the west side is for judo. The term 'budo' encompasses traditional Japanese martial arts such as kyudo (archery), kendo (swordsmanship), and judo. Wude Hall is currently listed as a municipal historic site.
