Qishan Old Street is a must-see for every visitor. This street boasts a variety of unique architectural styles, primarily Baroque, traditional Minnan courtyard houses, and Japanese-style old houses. The booming sugar industry at the time fueled economic prosperity, leading to a rise in the European Baroque style. Along the street, besides Western-style buildings in this style, there are also red-brick Western-style buildings. These buildings, distinguished by elegant facade carvings and sandstone arcades, became symbols of status and position for wealthy merchants. Interspersed among these buildings are authentically Chinese Hongcuo houses and the luxurious Wu Family Mansion. Qishan Station, located directly in front of the old street, boasts a Victorian facade and a Gothic octagonal pitched roof. This diverse array of architectural styles creates a fusion of history and culture. This old street exudes a unique atmosphere of old and new. Whether strolling among the red-brick Western-style buildings or exploring the history of the sugar industry and railways, Qishan today retains both its historical charm and its innovative vitality.
