Kagoshima-Kirishima Shrine

#5月好去地方2025
Kirishima Jingu is a well-known ancient shrine located in Kirishima City, Kagoshima Prefecture. It is also one of the most spiritual and historical shrines in southern Kyushu. It enshrines one of the protagonists in Japanese mythology, Ninigi no Mikoto, who is said to be the grandson of Amaterasu Omikami and represents the place where the grandson of the gods descended. Therefore, this place is also regarded as the holy place of Japan's founding myth.

The earliest creation of the shrine can be traced back to the 6th century. The current location is at the foot of Takachiho Peak, surrounded by dense forests, and the atmosphere is solemn and peaceful. The current shrine hall was rebuilt in 1715. It is a typical vermilion Hachiman-style building, which is gorgeous and upright, and is also listed as an important cultural property.

Kirishima Jingu is not only effective, but also regarded as a power spot, especially suitable for praying for family peace, love luck, and career luck. The scenery of cherry blossoms in spring, red leaves in autumn, and snow-covered shrines in winter are very famous. No matter what season you visit, it is unique.
