Kokura Castle, the original castle of Japan

Originally built as a residence and fortress for samurai general Hosokawa Tadaoki, due to its beauty, it has been considered an architectural model for castles in various cities in Japan. It has 5 floors and 4 levels of roofs. The base of the castle is made of dense stone.
During World War II, there was a heavy battle, causing the castle to be destroyed and damaged. However, with the strong desire of the people, they helped to renovate it to be a tourist attraction and a beautiful identity of Kita-Kyushu City, Fukuoka Prefecture.

Opening hours: 9:00-20:00
Getting there: Take the JR train from Hakata Station and get off at Kokura Station. You can walk to the castle.
