Half-Day Tour of Mojiko, Kitakyushu

Mojiko, located in Kitakyushu, is a perfect destination to include in your Fukuoka travel itinerary. You can plan a day trip here and even combine it with a visit to Shimonoseki.

🗓️ Itinerary:
Mojiko Station → Former Osaka Shosen Building → Blue Wing Drawbridge → Former Moji Customs Building

Mojiko Station: The station itself is a tourist attraction and was the first station in Japan to be designated as an Important Cultural Property. After six years of restoration, it reopened in 2019, showcasing the Taisho era's New Renaissance architectural style.

Former Osaka Shosen Building: Also an Important Cultural Property, this classic Western-style building is known for its bright orange exterior and octagonal tower, making it a great spot for photos.

Blue Wing Drawbridge: Spanning 108 meters, this is Japan's only pedestrian drawbridge. If you time your visit right, you can witness the bridge opening and closing. Opening times: Daily at 10:00, 11:00, 13:00, 14:00, 15:00, and 16:00. The bridge remains open for 20 minutes before closing.

Former Moji Customs Building: Part of Japan's "Kanmon Retro Kaikyo" cultural heritage, this building is a significant historical site.

Curry Honpo: Known for its baked curry. This dish features curry rice topped with a raw egg and plenty of cheese, then baked in an oven. The half-cooked egg yolk, combined with the aromatic curry and stretchy cheese, is perfect when mixed with white rice.
