A Scenic Day in Koblenz

#westerneurope
My visit to Koblenz was a perfect mix of history and riverfront scenery. This charming city sits at the meeting point of the Rhine and Moselle rivers, and the famous Deutsches Eck — where the two rivers meet beneath a giant statue of Emperor Wilhelm I — was my first stop. Watching boats and ferries glide by with the backdrop of the surrounding hills was unforgettable.

I took the cable car up to the Ehrenbreitstein Fortress, which offered panoramic views over the rivers and the old town below. Walking through the fortress grounds gave me a sense of the city’s long history and strategic importance.

In the old town, I wandered through narrow streets lined with half-timbered houses and small squares, stopping for a coffee by the Liebfrauenkirche. The relaxed riverside promenade made for a perfect evening stroll before heading back.

Koblenz might not be as famous as some German cities, but its riverside charm and mix of history and scenery made it a highlight of my trip along the Rhine.
