Wat Plai Laem - Hidden Gen of Samui

If you’re on Koh Samui, don’t miss Wat Plai Laem — one of the island’s most colorful and peaceful temples.
It’s not as famous as Big Buddha, but honestly? Sometimes it feels even more magical.

The highlight here is the giant statue of Guanyin, the 18-armed goddess of compassion, standing right in the middle of a lake. Next to her — a big, smiling Laughing Buddha, who’ll definitely put you in a better mood.

What’s cool:

✅ Entrance is free (but donations are welcome).

✅ It’s an active temple, so you’ll often see locals praying or lighting incense.

✅ The whole complex sits on a lake, giving it a floating feel — super photogenic during sunrise or sunset.

Tip: dress respectfully — it’s a sacred place. Shoulders and knees covered.
