Tonogayato Gardens felt like stepping into a secret retreat in western Tokyo. Unlike many flat city parks, this garden is built on the slope of the Musashino Plateau, giving it unique layers and viewpoints. Walking down into the valley, I found a serene pond surrounded by lush greenery—it felt worlds away from the city. The bamboo grove was particularly magical, swaying gently in the breeze. What I loved most was the lack of crowds, making it a perfect spot for reflection. It’s not flashy, but it’s deeply calming, the kind of garden where you lose track of time.
