Taking my kids to Kota Kinabalu, some suggestions on the way back

💡The mangroves are a must-visit. The children were super excited to see the fireflies and proboscis monkeys. You can go to the Kawa mangroves. The drive is a bit far, but the number of fireflies and proboscis monkeys is considerable.

💡Mount Kinabalu is also suitable for families, but the drive is a bit far. We spend the whole day in the car, visiting alpine pastures, feeding cattle and sheep, ATV, paragliding, and the scenery is beautiful.

💡If you take your children to live on an island, go to Gaya Island Resort. It is really the best place to take your children out for a walk. The environment on the island is relatively primitive and has a sense of seclusion. Hiking and boating in the rainforest to find rare animals and plants is very meaningful.

💡Don’t take your children to sea fishing if they are too young. There will be no sense of experience, and there will be nothing for them to play with on the boat, so they will be very noisy.

💡For nearby islands, consider Taomeng Island (there are yachts available), Sapi Island, and Manukan Island. There are many water activities and the boat ride is short. But if you want to see the beautiful white sand beach of Jelly Sea and have a good snorkeling environment, you still have to go to the far islands: Huantan Island and Mermaid Island.
