My stay at Shangri-La Tanjung Aru Resort & Spa in Kota Kinabalu was nothing short of dreamy—a luxurious tropical escape with world-class service, stunning scenery, and one of the most beautiful sunsets I’ve ever witnessed.

The moment I stepped into the open-air lobby, I was greeted with warm smiles and a refreshing welcome drink. The resort is beautifully designed, blending modern elegance with Bornean charm, and the grounds are lush, spacious, and immaculately kept.

My room was spacious, spotless, and came with a private balcony overlooking the ocean. Waking up to the view of the South China Sea was unforgettable. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and every little detail—from the toiletries to the room service—was thoughtful and high-quality.

The resort’s private beach and infinity pool were highlights. The water was calm, the sand was soft, and it never felt crowded. But what truly stood out was Sunset Bar—arguably the best spot in Sabah to watch the sun dip below the horizon with a cocktail in hand and live music in the background. Absolutely magical.

Dining was another high point. Whether it was the international buffet breakfast, the seafood BBQ, or local Malaysian cuisine at Café TATU, every meal was delicious and beautifully presented.

The Chi Spa was a sanctuary of relaxation—I indulged in a traditional massage while listening to the sound of waves, and it was pure bliss.

What made the experience exceptional was the staff. Every team member I encountered was warm, attentive, and truly passionate about hospitality. They made me feel like more than just a guest.
