If you're visiting Kumamoto, I personally recommend visiting Sakura-no-Koji. Located within the Sakura-no-Babajo Gardens at the foot of Kumamoto Castle, Sakura-no-Koji simulates the atmosphere of an Edo-era castle town. It features over 20 shops and restaurants selling local Kumamoto delicacies and souvenirs, as well as the Kumamoto Castle Museum Wak-Wak-Za, where you can experience the history of Kumamoto Castle through virtual reality. This area offers the opportunity to sample Kumamoto specialties like horse meat sashimi and wasabi lotus root, and is also a great place to buy souvenirs, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the Edo period.
