Explore the history and culture of Zhouzhuang

Museums are mostly located in cities, but there is a Zhu Residence in Zhouzhuang Ancient Town. This century-old residence, located at No. 38 Hougang Street, Zhouzhuang Town, has now become the Zhouzhuang Museum, showcasing the history and folk customs of Zhouzhuang Ancient Town.

🛖The museum is not large, covering only more than 1,000 square meters. It is a three-entry courtyard with two-story buildings. The front hall and back hall, the entrance hall, the main hall, and the back hall, with side rooms. In front, there is a stone cave gate, surrounded by wind and fire walls, palace-style long windows, and square brick floors. The entire building is painted with red railings and windows, simple and elegant.
☑️Entering the museum, you will see a three-dimensional model of the entire Zhouzhuang, where you can see the whole picture of Zhouzhuang Ancient Town at a glance. The streets and rivers are interdependent, with ancient stone bridges, deep courtyards, and riverfront corridors scattered around, which is quite interesting.
☑️The museum displays the history, ancient town culture, and folk culture of Zhouzhuang, such as Zhouzhuang's cuisine, folk weddings, banquets, etc. There are also some unearthed black pottery, stone tablets, and other objects that reflect the ancient town's architecture and history.
☑️On the second floor, there are also some cultural relics from the Liangzhu Culture and the Impressed Pottery Culture dating back 5,000 years. They were all unearthed from the bottom of Taishi Lake in the north of the town, including stone tools, pottery, ancient wooden well boards, etc.
