I joined a tour from Tbilisi, Georgia, to Gori and visited the Uplistsikhe Cave Dwellings. ✨
This is a place where people have lived since ancient times, with the ruins of a city carved into the rock.

Its history dates back to the 1st millennium BC, making it one of Georgia's oldest cities.
In addition to the remains of dwellings, the caves also contain a winery, a theater, and a place of worship, giving a glimpse into the prosperity of life at that time.
In the Middle Ages, it flourished as a trading hub and is said to have played an important role as part of the Silk Road trade route.

Walking through the passageways and plazas carved into the rock, I felt as if I had traveled back in time.
Although it is now merely a ruin, it was deeply moving to think that people once lived here so long ago.
The ruins' high point offers panoramic views of the Kvari River and the surrounding area, making it a recommended photo spot. ✨
You can also get there by taxi from Gori, so be sure to visit at least once!
