Kiyomizu-dera Temple in Kyoto during the snowy season

I just got back from my first trip to the Kansai region—Osaka and Kyoto—and it was amazing! I went in May, and the weather couldn’t have been better. Sunny, warm, but not too hot—perfect for walking around and sightseeing.
Osaka was full of energy and fun. I loved the Dotonbori area—so many lights, people, and delicious street food! I tried takoyaki and okonomiyaki for the first time and they were so good. Osaka Castle was also a cool place to visit, with great views and lots of history.
Kyoto was totally different but just as beautiful. It felt more peaceful and traditional. Fushimi Inari Shrine with all the red torii gates was a must-see. I also visited the Arashiyama Bamboo Grove, which was stunning and super calming. Every corner of Kyoto looked like a postcard!
Getting around was super easy. The trains were on time, clean, and simple to figure out—even for a first-timer in Japan like me. Everyone was polite and helpful, even when we didn’t speak the same language.
The whole trip felt like the perfect mix of city life and cultural beauty. I loved how Osaka had a modern, exciting vibe, while Kyoto was full of history and charm. Both places were beautiful in their own way, and I’m so glad I got to experience both.
If you’re thinking about going, I totally recommend visiting Kansai in May. Great weather, amazing food, beautiful sights, and unforgettable memories. Can’t wait to go back someday!
