During my trip to Kyoto, Kiyomizu-dera and Kinkaku-ji captivated me with their completely different charms. Kiyomizu-dera was brimming with energy right from the uphill path leading to it. Passing through alleys lined with traditional shops and food stalls, I was greeted by the majestic stage of Kiyomizu-dera. From there, the view of Kyoto city unfolded like a miniature world. On clear days, the expansive view allowed me to take in both the urban landscape and nature in a single glance—a truly breathtaking sight.
In contrast, Kinkaku-ji offered a completely different atmosphere. Nestled within a serene garden, the golden temple shimmered under the sunlight, its reflection glistening in the pond. Gazing at the golden reflection rippling on the water, I felt a sense of timeless tranquility.
The vibrant energy of Kiyomizu-dera and the serene stillness of Kinkaku-ji were starkly contrasting yet showcased the profound allure of Kyoto. Between the splendor and the calm, travelers seem to find a sense of balance in their hearts.
