Langzhong Temple of Local Culture is located in Langzhong City, Nanchong City, Sichuan Province. It was built in the Tang Dynasty. Part of the existing building is the remains of the reconstruction in the first year of Xianfeng in the Qing Dynasty (1851). It covers an area of nearly 7,000 square meters.The Temple of Local Culture sits facing north and south, and consists of Zhaobi, Panchi, Xingxingmen, Xingtan, Halberd Gate, Dacheng Hall, Holy Sign Hall, East-west Hall, Pavilion, West Garden, Shengyuxianguan and other landscapes, with a construction area of about 2,000 square meters.Langzhong Temple of Local Culture is a physical material for the study of ancient wooden buildings in Sichuan in the Qing Dynasty, and it is also an integral part of the imperial examination cultural district of Langzhong Ancient City.
The architectural style of Langzhong Temple of Local Culture is unique and has a strong Confucian cultural atmosphere.Dacheng Hall is the main building of the Temple of Local Culture. It enshrines a statue of Confucius, and on both sides are statues of Confucius' successful proteges Si Pai and Twelve Philosophers.The statue of Confucius in the Temple of Local Culture is made of glutinous rice paper and lime. This production process was very rare in ancient China and was called a glutinous rice paper statue.
Langzhong Temple of Local Culture is not only a complex with a long history, but also often hosts various cultural activities. Up to now, this place plays an important role in local and provincial level cultural events. For example, on July 10, 2015, the Langzhong Temple of Local Culture held the launching ceremony of the first“Hometown of Champions Study Tour”event; on October 16, 2017, the launching ceremony of inspirational education and research travel activities for primary and middle school students in Langzhong City was held; on September 4, 2018, the 13th Asian College Student Photography Competition“Humanities Langzhong”was held.
Currently, the opening hours of the Langzhong Temple of Local Culture are 08:00-18:00 every day. Tourists shall enter Langzhong Ancient City, and, then, walk to the Temple of Local Culture.
