Located in Leishan, Guizhou, Xijiang Thousand Household Miao Village is one of the largest Miao villages in China. Thousands of wooden buildings stacked on the hillside create a magnificent spectacle. This village not only preserves a rich Miao culture but also embodies authentic local customs. On sunny days, the village's tiered buildings shine beautifully in the sunlight. During performances, you can witness Miao people dressed in their ornate traditional costumes, singing and dancing in front of the ancient town, experiencing the warmth of indigenous people.
Itinerary and Must-See Highlights:
It is recommended to depart from Guizhou City or Zhenyuan in the morning for a three-hour drive to Xijiang Thousand Household Miao Village. Upon entering, take in breathtaking mountain views from the observation deck overlooking the terraced Miao village. Then, stroll deeper into the village, admiring the wooden houses, Chinese-style eaves, traditional shops, and unique restaurants along the streets, immersing yourself in the slow pace and simplicity of the Miao people.
You can also visit the Miao Cultural Museum along the way to learn about Miao history and crafts. If you have time, check the schedule for local performances and sacrificial ceremonies in advance to enjoy live dance and traditional music. 2. Some B&Bs and restaurants in the Miao village cannot be booked online, so it is recommended to book on-site.
