• Mount Ijen & the Blue Fire: Banyuwangi is home to Kawah Ijen, a striking volcanic crater famous for its electric-blue flames caused by burning sulfur—one of only a few places in the world where this phenomenon occurs. At sunrise, the view over the turquoise acidic crater lake is absolutely surreal.
• Baluran National Park: Known as the “Little Africa of Java”, Baluran is a savanna-like expanse where you can spot wild deer, buffalo, monkeys, and exotic birds with a backdrop of dormant volcanoes.
• Meru Betiri National Park: Remote and lush, this is where the endangered Javan tiger was last seen, and where sea turtles still come to lay their eggs on the black-sand Sukamade Beach.
