Westminster Abbey: A Building That Speaks in Layers

#hellohalloween

Standing outside Westminster Abbey, I felt like I was watching history breathe. The crowds never stopped—waves of visitors flowing in and out every hour, proof of its magnetic pull. Booking ahead is a must, but even from the outside, the experience is rich.

Each side of the Abbey tells a different story. One façade is Gothic grandeur—pointed arches, statues, and vertical drama. Walk around, and suddenly the tone shifts: softer lines, different stonework, almost like another building entirely. It made me pause and wonder—was this a patchwork of centuries, or a deliberate contrast?

I circled the Abbey slowly, like reading a book in chapters. The north entrance felt solemn, the west front majestic, and the cloister side quietly poetic. Tourists posed, guides pointed, and yet the building remained still—a silent witness to coronations, farewells, and prayers.
