Xujiang and Lubao: Xujiang (now Lubao Creek), a tributary of Beijiang River, was an important north-south waterway in ancient times. It had formed a market town in the Southern Song Dynasty. Commercial status: During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, Lubao was the hub connecting Guangzhou to northern Guangdong and even the Central Plains. It was known as "Little Guangzhou".
