Foshan City, Guangdong Province is a world-famous tourist resort city, attracting tourists from all over the world. Today I would like to recommend a cultural relic and historical site: Xujiang Ancient Town. Regarding "Xujiang Ancient Town", there is currently no official or well-known ancient town named after it, but it may be related to Lubao Town, Sanshui District, Foshan City, Guangdong Province (historically called "Xujiang"). Lubao Town is a thousand-year-old town on the bank of Beijiang River. It was named after Xujiang River (Lubao Creek). Historically, it has been a prosperous town with a profound cultural heritage.
1. Historical background
Xujiang and Lubao: Xujiang (now Lubao Creek), a tributary of Beijiang River, was an important north-south waterway in ancient times. It had formed a market town in the Southern Song Dynasty. Due to its prosperous water transportation, it was once called the "Xujiang Ancient Town." Commercial status: During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, Lubao was the hub connecting Guangzhou to northern Guangdong and even the Central Plains. It was known as "Little Guangzhou". Some remains of ancient docks and shops still exist.
Very suitable for sightseeing, vacation, taking photos and checking in!
