Yunnan's autumn hideaway is in Qujing! Take the high-speed train directly to Qujing North Station, and from there, take the K1 bus directly into the city. Taxis or carpools are more flexible for visiting nearby attractions, so avoid Luoping Station, where the trains are so infrequent.
Enjoy the autumn scenery: The waters of the Jiulong Waterfalls surge in golden light, and the misty mist splashes across your face as you ride a bamboo raft through the waterfalls, a truly relaxing experience. The colorful sand forests of Luliang resemble an overturned palette before sunset, creating a cinematic experience when you step on the sand. The rice terraces of Huize ripple with rolling waves, and in the early morning, you can capture a fairytale scene of clouds and mist shrouding golden ears of rice.
The food is all about the real deal: Zhanyi spicy chicken with buckwheat cakes, the spicy aroma pierces your nose; Fuyuan pickled pork trotters, stewed until they fall off the bone, are sour and refreshing, and are incredibly appetizing.
Photo spots: 1. Take photos of the "rainbow curtain reflecting the waterfall" upstream of Jiulong Waterfall; 2. Take wide-angle photos of the colorful sand peaks, creating a "Martian landscape"; 3. Take photos of the rice harvesting silhouettes against the light from the terraced viewing platform.
Tips to avoid: 1. Don't buy the 100-yuan full ticket for the Colorful Sand Forest; head straight to the core area of the Colorful Sand Peaks. 2. The temperature at Dahai Grass Mountain fluctuates greatly between morning and evening, so don't forget to bring a jacket. Be careful around sharp turns when driving.
