Cora-Cora Maldives — My Second Time, and It Feels Like Coming Home

This is my second time at Cora-Cora in Raa Atoll
The first was two years ago — my *very first trip to the Maldives*, a yoga retreat that swept me off my feet.
Back then, I stayed in an overwater villa
Romantic? Yes.
Realistic for me? No.

🌙 Why I’ll never stay overwater again:
The waves *never stopped*.
They crashed under the villa all night — loud, restless.
And the curtains? Flapping in the wind like ghosts knocking on glass.
I didn’t sleep. I survived.

So this time? Beach villa, no pool
And let me tell you — *it’s perfect*.
Why need a pool when the ocean is your backyard?
The entry is soft sand, gentle slope — gets a bit of current, but nothing unbearable.
Every morning, I step into warm turquoise like it’s calling my name.

✨ **What’s Still Amazing (and What’s Not):

🍽️ Food? I’m obsessed.🤩
Breakfast buffet: tropical fruit, omelettes, pastries — fresh, abundant.
Dinner:
→ *Maldivian*: spicy tuna curry, coconut rice — comfort food from the sea,
→ *Asian*: **that Tom Yum** — still the best I’ve ever had. Sour, fiery, fragrant heaven.
→ Italian & Japanese: elegant, romantic, worth every bite.

🧘♀️ Yoga lovers — BOOK IN ADVANCE.
I came ready to practice daily.
Got only *one* group session all week.
So I brought my mat — now I flow alone every sunrise on the beach.
The island supports solitude beautifully.

🐠 Snorkeling miracle — found it!

We finally discovered the house reef entering from the restaurant side.
Waves were strong, but beneath:
→ Coral gardens alive with color,
→ Parrotfish, clownfish, even a moray eel,
→ A blacktip shark gliding through.
⚠️ Only during high tide — currents are fierce. Stay safe.

🎶 Evenings? Quiet. Simple.
DJ girl tries her best, but playlist doesn’t match guest energy.
Mini billiards, table football — great for families.
For me? Starlight, wine, and silence.

But the beauty?
It makes your eyes water.
It makes your soul quiet.

I’m here again — not by accident.
But because some islands don’t just host you.
They *remember* you.
