When you want to escape the bustling streets of Madrid, the first place that comes to mind is undoubtedly **El Retiro Park (Parque de El Retiro)**. This expansive green space in the heart of the city feels like a hidden world—peaceful yet full of life.
As soon as you pass through the park's entrance, you're greeted by the fresh scent of trees and the cool shade they provide. People sit on benches reading books, couples stroll hand in hand, and the atmosphere is alive with the rhythm of Madrid's daily life and emotions.
The most striking spot is the large artificial lake (Estanque Grande). Couples and families paddle boats, while others bask in the Spanish sunshine along the lakeside. The scenery alone makes you glad you came. Standing majestically by the lake is the **Monument to Alfonso XII (Monumento a Alfonso XII)**, a truly impressive sight.
