Phra Mahathat Naphamethanidon - Phra Mahathat Naphaphonphumisiri

A Tour of Phra Mahathat Naphamethanidon and Phra Mahathat Naphaphonphumisiri, Doi Inthanon, Chiang Mai Province

These two chedis are incomparably beautiful and majestic, worthy of their respective monarchs. Situated atop a high mountain in Doi Inthanon National Park, the pair boasts stunning architecture and landscapes, a must-see at least once in your life. Located on the summit of a mountain in Doi Inthanon National Park, on Highway 1009 at kilometer marker 41.5, they were built by the Royal Thai Air Force and the Thai people.

The Phra Mahathat Naphamethanidon stupa resembles an octagonal bell, with a tiered bell resembling an upturned lotus flower, topped with a pointed golden spire and a nine-tiered silver umbrella. Phra Mahathat Naphaphonphumisiri is 12-sided, resembling an inverted bell. However, the terraces are shaped like lotus petal arches, divided into six levels. The stupa itself is decorated with beautiful purple-pink glass mosaics.

The surroundings of both chedis are beautifully decorated with gardens of temperate flowers and various plants. During winter, the air is very cold, making this area one of the most beautiful spots in Chiang Mai to view the sea of mist.

Open to tourists daily from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
