Autumn in Maoxian is perfect for a short getaway! 🍁 Not only can you admire the stunning colorful forests, but also experience authentic Qiang and Tibetan culture. Here's a unique 2-day, 1-night itinerary for you!
🚗 Recommended Itinerary
DAY1:
📍 Pingtou Qiang Village (9:00-12:00)
Free admission, featuring the most well-preserved Qiang residential architecture. Try Qiang embroidery and traditional wine-making. Don't miss the local restaurant "Qiang Village Home" for authentic cured meat and wild vegetables.
📍 Ancient Qiang City (13:30-16:00)
A highly authentic Qiang cultural site with daily song-and-dance performances at 3 PM. The viewing platform on the city walls offers panoramic views of Maoxian—great for photos!
DAY2:
📍 Diexi Lake (9:00-11:30)
A turquoise-blue barrier lake formed by the 1933 earthquake. Enjoy lakeside hiking (wear non-slip shoes) and try the delicious roasted potatoes from lakeside stalls.
💡 Travel Tips:
1. Pack a thick jacket for Maoxian's chilly mornings and evenings in October.
2. Don't miss the "Songpan Old Yogurt" in town—just ¥5 for a big bowl!
3. Drive from Chengdu takes ~3 hours via Rongchang Expressway.
4. Stay at homestays near Ancient Qiang City (¥200-300/night) for a cozy experience.
