Scenic spots in Japan in Matsudo
--------------------------------------------
Tojo Residence (former Tokugawa Matsudo Tojo Residence, former Tokugawa Akitake Garden)
--------------------------------------------
This place is a villa built by Tokugawa Akitake, the younger brother of Tokugawa Yoshinobu, the last shogun of the Edo Shogunate.
It is the only building that remains almost completely of the Tokugawa family residence from the Meiji period.
He studied in Europe, and apparently enjoyed decorating it with European antiques at the time.
The villa is divided into three areas: for guests, for living quarters, and for employees.
It is said that you could see Mt. Fuji from the guest rooms at the time. 🗻
Matsudo is a city with many slopes, so I'm sure it was a wonderful place with a better view at the time.
The garden is home to a variety of plants, and is a great place for a walk, especially at this time of year.
It's free to just visit the garden!
