Liyutan Reservoir

Geography and Function: Located downstream of Jingshan Creek, a tributary of the Daan River, Liyutan is an off-stream reservoir primarily supplying domestic, agricultural, and industrial water to Miaoli County and the Taichung area. It also serves purposes such as tourism, flood control, irrigation, and power generation.

Trails and Viewing Facilities: The park features gentle trails suitable for leisurely walks, with observation decks along the way offering scenic views of the mountains, water, and lake. The loop trail around the reservoir is ideal for families or elderly visitors to stroll at a relaxed pace.

• Photography Highlights: The Rainbow Bridge and the dam area are highly recommended spots. On clear days or during water releases, visitors can capture stunning reflections of the dam and surrounding mountain scenery.

• Nearby Recreation: The reservoir area includes a water park, grassy picnic areas, camping grounds, and a small vendor market, making it perfect for a half-day or full-day leisurely trip.

By Car: Exit the Sanyi Interchange on National Highway No. 1, head south along Provincial Highway 13 for about 1 km, then turn onto a local road leading directly to the Liyutan Reservoir area.

• Public Transportation: Take Hsinchu Bus No. 5655 to "Suanganhu Station" and walk approximately 60 minutes to reach the reservoir. Alternatively, you can take a taxi or hire a car from nearby train stations such as Sanyi Station.
