Lake Wānaka

The highlight of a trip to Wānaka is undoubtedly hiking up Roys Peak. Although there was still snow near the summit in September, the good weather allowed for a safe and successful hike. Standing at the top, the panoramic view of Lake Wānaka and the surrounding mountain ranges instantly made the strenuous climb worthwhile. The deep blue lake surrounded by snow-capped mountains was truly majestic. Thanks to the 'travel subsidy,' I was able to prepare hiking gear in advance, ensuring a safe and enjoyable trekking experience. In September, the temperature can vary greatly, so waterproof and windproof jackets, along with warm clothing, are essential. The breathtaking view of Lake Wānaka, earned through sweat and effort, provided a sense of accomplishment that will be remembered for a lifetime.
