Okinawa Free Travel (Miyako Island) Ikema Bridge Beach

Ikema Bridge is one of the most stunning sea-crossing bridges in Miyako Island, Okinawa, connecting the main island of Miyako to Ikema Island. Spanning approximately 1,425 meters, this bridge is not only a vital transportation route but also a popular spot for photography and enjoying the famous "Miyako Blue" scenery. Walking along the bridge, you'll be surrounded by endless turquoise waters and blue skies, while the beaches at both ends of the bridge offer breathtaking, hidden-gem-level beauty.

Particularly on the southern side of the Miyako Island end of Ikema Bridge (near the observation deck), there is a small beach with incredibly clear waters that are unbelievably blue. Due to its slightly secluded location and convenient parking, it tends to attract fewer visitors. Many people come here to take photos of the bridge and sea, wade in the water, snorkel, or even enjoy views of the fishing port and white buildings on Ikema Island, creating a perfect tropical island vibe.

If you're driving, it's recommended to park near the entrance of the bridge and walk to the beach. There's no entrance fee, and the area remains untouched with no facilities, offering a pristine and natural experience. If visiting during summer, remember to bring sunscreen, and you might want to pack a sunshade and drinking water to enjoy a leisurely half-day at this beach.

📍Location: Hirara Ikema, Miyakojima City, Okinawa Prefecture (Miyako Island side of Ikema Bridge)
🚗Transportation: About a 35-minute drive from Miyako Airport / About a 25-minute drive from the city center
🕰️Open all day (recommended to visit during daylight hours as there is no nighttime lighting)
💰Free admission
💡Tips: The beach has no lifeguards or shower facilities, so bring basic equipment and trash bags. During high tide, the beach area may shrink, so exercise caution.
