The earliest cherry blossom festival in Japan, with the catchphrase "One step, blooming." [Motobu Yaedake Cherry Blossom Festival]
A row of more than 7,000 winter cherry trees lines the 4km road leading to the summit of Yaedake in Motobu Town in northern Okinawa Prefecture.
The winter cherry blossoms are in full bloom every year from mid-January to early February, and the cherry blossom festival is held.
In 2025, the festival will be held from Saturday, January 18th to Sunday, February 2nd.
Winter cherry blossoms are different from Somei-Yoshino cherry blossoms found outside the prefecture, and are characterized by their deep pink color.
If you go to the top of Yaedake, you can see the blue sea of Motobu Town, and the collaboration with the cherry blossoms is a very beautiful sight.
In addition, there are stage events and food stalls during the cherry blossom festival, so it is even more recommended.
If you are considering a trip to Okinawa in January, be sure to include the cherry blossom festival in your plans!
