🐠Must-Visit Okinawa! Guide to the Wonders of Tropical Fish at Churaumi Aquarium

Located in northern Okinawa, Churaumi Aquarium is a premier destination for tropical fish viewing. Its world-renowned "Kuroshio Sea" aquarium offers a breathtaking immersion into the magical world of the tropical ocean.

Must-See Tropical Fish Highlights
The "Kuroshio Sea" boasts a 7,500-ton volume, home to giant creatures like whale sharks and manta rays. It also teems with hundreds of tropical fish—colorful butterfly fish, striped snappers, and sleek surgeonfish—as they school in the azure waters, creating a breathtaking spectacle. The "Tropical Fish Sea" exhibit on the second floor focuses on smaller tropical fish. The vibrantly colored damselfish and wrasses in the transparent aquarium, complemented by coral aquascapes, recreate the natural environment of a tropical coral reef.

Visiting Tips

• Hours: Open from 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM (may be extended during peak season). It's recommended to enter in the morning to avoid crowds and catch the whale shark feeding show at 11:00 AM or 3:00 PM.

• Tickets: Adults 2,000 yen, with student discounts. Buy tickets online in advance to avoid waiting in line.

• Transportation: Drive from Naha for approximately 2 hours; or take the highway bus to "America Village" and then a taxi for approximately 30 minutes.

• Note: Flash photography is prohibited inside the museum to avoid disturbing the fish. After your visit, visit the tropical botanical garden outside the museum to experience the rainforest atmosphere.
