Visiting Svetitskhoveli Cathedral in Mtskheta was definitely worth the trip. I took a marshrutka from Tbilisi - just 40 minutes and really cheap. The cathedral is right in the town center, you can't miss it.

Quick tip for women: you'll need to cover your head inside, so bring a scarf. Good thing there's no entrance fee.

The cathedral itself is massive and ancient, with those thick stone walls that make you feel tiny. Inside it's dim with old paintings on the walls. There's a spot where they say Christ's robe is buried - interesting to see whether you believe it or not.

Outside there's a nice courtyard. I spent about an hour just walking around and taking photos. Best to come early before the tour groups arrive.

Super easy to visit from Tbilisi, completely free, and really impressive.
