Nagoya Castle was the residence of the lord of Owari Domain during the Edo period.

It is one of the three most famous castles in Japan (the other two are Osaka Castle and Kumamoto Castle) and one of the 100 most famous castles in Japan.

But most of the buildings in the city were burned down during World War II.
The current castle tower was rebuilt in 1959.

It is a symbol of the city's power and wealth.
